Palo Alto Dermatology Institute, located at 301 High Street in downtown Palo Alto, is the vision of nationally recognized Mohs and cosmetic dermatologic surgeon Greg S. Morganroth, MD. Our practice embodies Dr. Morganroth’s innovative, patient-centric approach to dermatology and dermatologic surgery developed over 30 years of distinguished work in Silicon Valley.
In 1995, Dr. Morganroth moved to Palo Alto and shortly thereafter established his Mohs and dermatologic surgery practice in Mountain View. He often admired the building at 301 High Street in downtown Palo Alto, envisioning a future dermatology practice in its prime location. Over the first decade, he built a nationally acclaimed practice known for excellence in Mohs surgery, facial reconstruction, laser and cosmetic surgery, pioneering techniques such as the local anesthesia Vertical Vector Face Lift, and training future Mohs surgeons and Stanford facial plastic surgeons.
In the second decade, Dr. Morganroth expanded his practice, acquiring over 25 leading dermatology offices across Northern California to form California Skin Institute. This collaboration brought together outstanding dermatology and plastic surgery practices while maintaining a strong focus on innovation, training, and outstanding patient outcomes. Notable team members, including Michelle Quinn, NP, joined during this time, becoming integral to the skin cancer diagnosis, treatment and surveillance program.
By the third decade while working full-time as a Mohs and cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Morganroth grew California Skin Institute into the largest physician-owned and controlled dermatology group in the U.S., with 48 locations and over 450 employees. Board-certified dermatologists Linda Sheu, MD and Rebecca Chen, MD, along with dermatologic surgery partner Chandni Patel, PA-C, joined the team, completing the unique collaborative dermatology care model that offers state-of-the-art techniques and exceptional patient outcomes.
Reflecting on how he wanted to spend the balance of his career, Dr. Morganroth found the greatest enjoyment in his relationship with patients and close clinical team versus managing a large dermatology practice. To that end, in early 2025 he transitioned ownership of California Skin Institute on the condition that he and his Mountain View team of physicians, physician extenders and dozens of staff would remain independent and form their own practice in Palo Alto.
Returning full circle to a single location practice in the same building he admired decades earlier, Dr. Morganroth and his team of five expert clinicians and dedicated staff of 28 are dedicated to creating a one-of-a-kind dermatology practice that combines state-of-the-art surgical techniques and medical treatments with unprecedented hospitality and personal service for the patients that entrust us with their care.
