Excel V and Vascular Lasers
Excel V and VersaPulse are green light KTP lasers routinely utilized by Palo Alto Dermatology Institute providers to help patients address vascular lesions. This laser technology was designed to coagulate blood vessels on the face and body, to treat issues like spider veins, rosacea, broken capillaries, and much more. If you are struggling with vascular lesions, the expert providers at Palo Alto Dermatology Institute can help you understand your treatment options and whether VersaPulse and Excel V are the optimal choice for you. To schedule your vascular laser consultation, please call Palo Alto Dermatology Institute, or schedule your appointment online.
The Excel V and VersaPulse are specialized 532nm green light laser that is primarily used to treat vascular lesions. The technology is able to target blood vessels under the skin and treat problems like spider veins and broken capillaries by coagulating the vessels. Excel V has an additional advantage since it also offers a laser wavelenghth of 1064nm that is effective at treating purple-colored vascular lesions including leg veins and the purple veins around your eyes. After the vessels are sealed off, they are typically slowly broken down by the body’s natural processes.
What makes both lasers a popular choice for treating vascular lesions are the lasers’ ability to target blood vessels. By using specific laser light wavelengths, your Palo Alto Dermatology Institute provider can target the vessels, while reducing the effect on surrounding healthy tissues.
The expert providers at Palo Alto Dermatology Institute have used the Excel V and VersaPulse lasers for decades to help thousands of patients address problems like spider veins, red stretch marks, rosacea, scars, spider veins, large facial veins, and vascular birthmarks.
Because of the Excel V and VersaPulse lasers’ ability to target blood vessels, virtually any skin redness resulting from dilated blood vessels can be treated by this technology. Due to the laser’s design and cooling technology, either laser can be used on virtually any part of the body.
Excel V and VersaPulse are safe technologies and are a significant improvement over early generation vascular lasers, which carried a risk of damaging the skin above the blood vessel. To improve patient safety and minimize risk of damage, the Excel V and VersaPulse are designed with a specialized cooling tip that keeps the skin cool as the laser passes into the vessel. This allows the energy to be focused on the blood vessel and reduces potential damage to the surrounding tissues.
To maximize patient safety further, Palo Alto Dermatology Institute providers have undergone extensive training with the Excel V and VersaPulse and other laser devices, and have vast experience over 30 years helping thousands of patients address a wide array of problems.
Treating vascular lesions with the Excel V and VersaPulse can produce long term outcomes. As the blood vessel is coagulated, its visibility is decreased.
Although treatment outcomes are typically fast, your body may in some cases be able to re-open the blood vessels, as it attempts to heal the area. Therefore, most patients require multiple treatments to obtain their desired result.
When you begin Excel V and VersaPulse treatment, your Palo Alto Dermatology Institute provider will discuss your treatment and expectations for the number of treatments. Protective eyewear will also be provided to you, to ensure your eyes are safe.
When the treatment starts, your provider will gently guide the laser across the skin and deliver bursts of energy to the problematic blood vessels. During this phase, you may feel a mild sensation similar to a pinprick or a snapping rubber band. However, the treatment is not painful, does not require topical anesthesia, and most Palo Alto Dermatology Institute patients feel minimal to almost no discomfort.
After the treatment is complete, you may experience mild redness and swelling in the treatment area for a few days, as your body reacts to the coagulation of the vessels.
Excel V and VersaPulse are relatively gentle treatments and are not associated with serious side effects. These lasers do not vaporize the skin – the way a resurfacing laser does – and focuses strictly on the dilated blood vessels under the skin. You may experience some redness and swelling in the area after treatment, which will resolve within a few days.
