Thomas Hoffman, MD
Board-certified dermatologist in Palo Alto
Dr. Hoffman is excited to join the Palo Alto Dermatology Institute after recently retiring from his private dermatology practice in Menlo Park, where he served patients for over three decades. He is thrilled to be brought out of retirement by PADI’s innovative approach to medical practice.
Dr. Hoffman graduated with honors from Tulane University School of Medicine, where he was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society in his junior year. Upon graduation, he received the Upjohn Achievement Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement.
After completing his first year of post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at LA County-USC Hospital, Dr. Hoffman spent two years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), conducting research in Preventive Cardiology. He then developed an interest in dermatology and pursued a residency and fellowship in Dermatopathology at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
Board-certified in both Dermatology and Dermatopathology, Dr. Hoffman is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, the American Society of Dermatopathology, and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.
Dr. Hoffman remains an active member of the academic community, serving as an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Stanford University. He is also an attending physician for Stanford’s dermatology residents and medical students at the Veterans Hospital in Palo Alto.
He has served as President of both the San Francisco Dermatology Society and the Pacific Dermatologic Association and has authored several articles in leading dermatology journals.
A longtime resident of Palo Alto, Dr. Hoffman enjoys tennis, golf, pickleball, and the theatrical arts. He shares these activities with his family, which includes two adult sons. Dr. Hoffman is looking forward to seeing patients again and contributing to the success of Palo Alto Dermatology Institute’s new private group practice.
